Damn dude, for a really cheap system, this thing cruises. I've got my CPU overclocked to 2.4Ghx from the stock 1.9Ghz. Damn dude, Spearhead's frames are way up there in the lower 500's in V2 (inside). If I go in the vents it'll top out around 800 frames *laughing out loud*.
I downloaded the Call of Duty 4 demo earlier and played it. Damn man, this system plays that game smooth as hell on all medium settings. I averaged around 50 fps on the demo. Not bad for a $40 video card eh? I am very pleased. The medium settings on the PC version look the same, or better, than the PS3 version.
The next game I'm trying is The Elder Scrolls Iv: Oblivion. I gotta have my Elder Scrolls RPG fix.
My PC specs with the prices I paid (I'm only listing my current PSU, because I'm getting a full refund on the DOA PSU):
CPU: AMD x2 +3600
$40
Video Card: EVGA Nvidia 8600GT 256MB
$40
Case: Raidmax Smilodon
$82
PSU: OCZ Extremez 450 Watt ATX (38@ on +12v rail)
$62
Motherboard: Biostar AM2/AM2+ A770 w/ PCI-e 2.0
$57
Optical Drive: Samsung Lightscribe DVD+RW/-RW CD/DVD Rom OEM
$20
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar 160GB
$0 (Reused)
Memory: Super Talent 2x1024 (2GB) Dual Channel Sticks
$35
Total Price: $336
I can't believe how well this machine is running. I recommend the motherboard and PSU whole-heartedly. My system is fast, and stable. Also, If I overclock my CPU a little more to reach 2.6Ghz, I can play Crysis.
Not bad for a cheap build, eh?
